USA Insulation Must Be Installed Before December 31st to Qualify for 2009 Tax Credit

October 23, 2009 - Consumers who add home insulation in 2009 are eligible for a federal tax credit of 30 percent. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (H.R. 1) was signed into law by the President on February 17, 2009. The stimulus bill offers substantial energy tax credits for energy efficient home improvements including home insulation. Other qualifying home improvements include roofing, windows, doors and non-solar water heaters.

The Bill (Section 1121) states that American homeowners who make eligible improvements can receive a 30 percent (up to $1500) energy tax credit. While the tax credit will be offered again in 2010, those who wish to apply it to their taxes this coming April need to act now. The tax credit for insulation installed in 2010 will not be applicable until 2011.

“This is our busiest time of year”, says USA Insulation Franchise Corporation President, Patrick Pitrone, “our insulation contractors are booked about five weeks out, so those who want insulation installed before the holidays should contact us right away. Homeowners who are interested in getting the tax credit this coming April should schedule an estimate as soon as possible.”

For home insulation to qualify, the primary purpose of the product must be to insulate, a manufacturer’s certification is required and the insulation must be expected to last for at least five years or carry a two year warranty. The insulation must be placed into service during the taxable year to qualify for the energy tax credit. Consumers should keep all receipts and Manufacturer’s Certification Statements for tax purposes (IRS Form 5695).

USA Insulation Premium Foam Insulation is an Energy Star Qualified Product. Insulation installation services are available in Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Visit usainsulation.net for more information
